We do not try to duplicate information that exists in the other Clan MacLeod web sites, but use hyperlinks back to the original information.

Clan MacLeod Society USA has its roots in the 1954 world travels of Dame Flora MacLeod of MacLeod, 28th Chief of MacLeod, urging MacLeod descendants everywhere to form Clan MacLeod societies. The USA society was founded in Chicago in 1954. The roots of the Missouri Valley Region can also be traced to Dame Flora’s efforts, as she asked a Kansas City MacLeod during her 1954 visit to Kansas City to be coordinator for “the west”. If you are reading this you are probably, like me, a MacLeod or MacLeod descendant…or you are, like me, the bearer of a surname that is a sept of Clan MacLeod (Nicol/Nichols in my case)… or you are, like me, a descendant of a sept of Clan MacLeod (Cremon/MacCrimmon in my case)…or you are, like me, someone with an interest in Clan MacLeod. Any one of these categories entitles you to join Clan MacLeod Society USA. Every member of Missouri Valley Region stands ready to assist you in joining us. This makes the clan society all the more important for those of us who treasure our heritage. Our heritage is a joy indeed – a colorful history, colorful fellowship, colorful attire, colorful dance and piping. Most of us would never encounter each other in our everyday work and play. As members of Clan MacLeod Society USA, we have a focus and a means of coming together. We meet, once we are known to each other, through mail, e-mail, and telephone. We meet at Scottish games and festivals in our region and elsewhere, the Clan MacLeod tent as our first and last stop, and our resting and visiting point throughout. We meet at annual general meetings of the Clan MacLeod Society USA. We meet at the North America Gathering (USA & Canada) every four years, and we meet at Dunvegan Castle on the Isle of Skye for Clan Parliament every four years. We meet at Clan MacLeod World Gatherings such as the one I attended in 2003 at Christchurch, New Zealand. Though I may be biased, I say without hesitation that, of all the Scottish clans, we have the richest international social fabric of exchange, celebration, and welcome.
